Privateer National: 8/2/08 Ryan raced the
Privateer National
and Pit Bike National last weekend in Spokane, WA. Several
nationally ranked top privateers were there such as Cole Siebler #53,
Tiger Lacey #221, Kevin Rookstool #94, Michael Blose #183, Greg Crater
#153, Billy Payne #195, Derek Costella #808 as well as a whole
host of other riders from CA, OR, WA, ID, and MI. Both the 250F and 450F
class gates were full with 40 riders each. 250F Class - Ryan had a tough time on the 250F and got bad starts both motos. He even fell both motos, but somehow still ended up 8th place in both motos. 450F Class - Ryan started in the top 10 and worked his way to 2nd by moto end. In the 2nd moto he started in the top 5, but fell on the first lap. He worked his way back from almost last to 5th by the end of the moto and finished right behind Blose and Boughton who finished 4th and 3rd respectively. MM10E - Ryan had some tough competition from Pitster Pro Rider Brad Ripple and teammate and double MiniMoto SX Champion Derek Costella, and teammate Derek Rose. You have to check out the videos on DefineTheMoment, but I'm not sure that you can appreciate how fast they were really going by watching the videos. Nonetheless, check them out! Moto1 Ryan started 2nd. Derek as Derek went down hard on one of the biggest jumps giving the lead to Ryan. Ripple gave Ryan a good challenge for the better part of the race, but Ryan finished on top. In the 2nd Moto Ryan started out about 5th, but quickly worked his way to the front. MM12E - Ryan had a great battle with Derek Costella in the first moto that went on for several laps. Finally as Ryan made the pass stick for the lead, a technical problem with his throttle caused him to pull off. He re-entered the race in an effort to salvage a good overall finish and finished 7th. In the second moto Ryan got top 3 start and worked his way to the top to finish the night with 3 out of 4 mini moto wins! Privateer National Story and PhotosPrivateer National Video Coverage Pit Bike National Story and Photos Pit Bike National Video Coverage Washougal: 7/28/08 Moto 1 - Ryan got off to a great start on his home track by starting the first moto in about 9th place. He held on to 10th until about lap 4 and got taken out by Summers #93 about halfway through the race while he was running in 12th. Moto 2 - Ryan got another great start and rounded the 2nd turn in 6th place! He was later passed by a couple of riders, but was still running in 8th ahead of Ferry, Balbi, and Hill. Ryan started fading fast. His rear suspension was starting to blow through the stroke on the hard square edge bumps that had been developing all day. He managed to stay in the top 20 until about the halfway mark but faded to 23rd by the end of the race. Washougal: 7/27/08 Ryan rode really well on his home track. In the early timed laps of 2nd practice Ryan's lap times had him as 8th fastest 450. A fading clutch forced him to retire back to the truck early and while he was back at the truck he dropped to 18th fastest.
