Washougal WA Saturday qualifying went ok, but Ryan said he just wasn't comfortable on the bike and he finished 4th. They made a few adjustments during practice on Sunday and Ryan was feeling good.

Sunday qualifying, Ryan nearly grabbed the holeshot as you can see in the photos.  Ryan made a pass on the first lap and lead the qualifier until right before the end.  On the last straight it was a drag race down the whoops to the checkers between Ryan and MotoWorld Suzuki's Matt Goerke. It was so close we couldn't tell who won, but the official results put Goerke on top.

Moto 1 Ryan jumped off the gate to a mid-pack start and by the end of the first lap was running 16th. On lap 2 he was in 14th and was chased 11th, 12th, and 13th around the track like a freight train until about the mid way point when Ryan began to fade and finished 17th.

Moto 2 Ryan got a bad jump off the gate and looked like he was well outside the top 20 heading into the 2nd turn up the hill. When he came around after the first lap he was in 19th. By the middle of the race he had worked his way up to 16th but looked like he was beginning to fade again for a repeat of the 1st moto. A couple of laps later it looked like Ryan was beginning to charge! He was beginning to catch Subway's Jeff Gibson and Honda of Japan's Kenjiro Tsuji. Ryan chased them around for several laps then made his move back in the woods passing them both at once and finished 14th.

Optical illusion - it looks as if Ryan is headed for one of Washougal's trees, but all is good.

Sunday morning qualifier - Ryan on the inside of turn two. Jeff Gibson (just out of the picture) grabbed the holeshot.
